Kilwa, Mafia, Songo Songo Archipelago, Mtwara, Lindi.
Deep sea fishing in Tanzania is still at its primordial and besides the Pemba Channel which has become famous thanks to the efforts of the Kenyan charter fishing operations, and beside the Zanzibar Channel, very little or relatively nothing is known about the rest of the Tanzanian waters and their 400 miles of coastline, spotted with a multitude of tropical islands, atolls with immaculate white sand beaches and spectacular drop offs which submerge into the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean.
The Island of Mafia, the Archipelago of Songo Songo, the coasts of Kilwa on the South and, further South, near the border with Mozambique, the cost of Mtwara and of Lindi,
All places of extreme beauty and still untached.
How to fish them:
1)
You can reach them comfortably with a small scheduled flight or charter plane.
You can also arrange for a fishing boat to pick you up at the destination and fish the surrounding areas.
2)
Otherwise, it is possible to reach them via sea, from Dar es Salaam, from Kilwa or from Mafia Island, fishing along
the way for marlin, sailfish, yellowfin tuna, whaoo and dorado and stopping on the way at the lodges of Mafia Island, Kilwa, and Mtwara.
3)
It is also possible to organize an unforgettable fishing holiday together with a big, comfortable Sailing Yacht, where you can relax in the evening while comfortably anchored at a tropical island.
While enjoying a delicious meal , you can tell to the rest of your friends and family all the adventure and tales of the day.

The Tanzanian coast, from North to South
Distances from Dar es Salaam to Kilwa
From Dar es Salaam to North Mafia :66 nautical miles approx. It is possible to cover it in 1 day of trolling. It is possible to anchor at any of the numerous small islands. The anchorage can be uncomfortable during the northern wind (Kaskazi), which blows from November until April
FromNorth Mafia (anchorage) to Kinasi Pass entrance: 30 nautical miles. Very good fishing ground. At the Kinasi Pass there is a choice of 4 very nice lodges:
FromNorth Mafia (anchorage) to Tutia : 47 nautical miles. Ideal route to spend a full day fishing. Tutia Island is a stunning sand bank located in the South of Mafia. Good anchorage. It can be uncomfortable during Southern wind (Kusi) which blows from April until September/October
From Tutia (sand bank located in the South of Mafia) to Okuza (The first Northern Island of the Songo Songo Archipelago): 13 nautical miles. Good fishing ground. Many deep drop offs and shallow corals.
From Tutia (sand bank located at the Southern tip of Mafia) to the Island of Songo Songo (anchoring at Pumbavu): 50 miles. Along the way, it is a continuity of deep blue waters and small islands that emerge from nowhere. Perfect ground for big predators.
From Songo Songo (anchorage) to Kilwa Masoko (here there is a little lodge newly built): 34 miles. You will have to pass through the Kilwa Main Pass which seams to attract a multitude of Yellowfin, Dorado and predators in big numbers.
